Introduction
The promotion of statistics as a discipline that we should encourage a better understanding of our country is one of the main activities to be carried out by the Statistical Institute of the Balearic Islands ( IBESTAT ). Therefore, with the aim of contributing to the revitalization of all the research work and papers that since civil society, academic, business, institutional or staff are performed in this field have tried to institute an award that serves as recognition of this commitment, while providing incentive to continue in our society the benefits of knowledge that have helped to deepen the reality of the Balearic Islands.
Antoni Montserrat Montserrat
Antoni and Moll (1954-2006) was an example of dedication to statistics. Throughout his career he authored many statistical publications, mainly devoted to the incidence of labor in the evolution of the general economy. It was, however, as Director General of Economy of the Government of the Balearic Islands deployed their great efforts to an intensive dissemination of statistical data regarding community Balearics.
